MDM Healthcare Launches Journey Patient Experience Solution

Journey - Patient Education & Engagement Solution

Interactive Patient Experience Solution Features Two Different Delivery Options

Ponte Vedra Beach, FL – (September 29, 2014) – MDM Healthcare is very excited to introduce “Journey”, patient engagement solution! The Journey solution allows all eligible providers and hospitals to send the right patient education content to patients and families directly to their smart phones, tablets or to their email in real time! What is available to patients while in the hospital and clinic, is also available at home. MDM’s Journey Solution’s ease of installation, stability and very low cost makes it the best option for true patient education and engagement!
The on-demand solution is channel based solution that can be navigated through two ways; the telephone system or through the pillow speaker. Both can be done from the patient’s bedside. The channel based option leverages the hospital’s existing cable infrastructure, which allows for easy setup and integration. The system also offers one or more scheduled play channels that focus on relaxation, general health, nutrition, or wellness content provided by the hospital.

The enhanced network based solution is navigated through the pillow speaker. This system allows for two-way communication between the patient and staff. There are no usage limitations and the solution is 100% scalable. The content can be delivered via RF over coax or network cabling utilizing Z-Band technology. Also, Electronic Health Record (EHR) integration is available with this Journey option.

Both solutions allow for staff to assign videos to a patient’s room and monitor usage at the patient level. The content is accessible in the hospitals, clinics or even in their homes. The solution provides hospitals with a means of delivering education, relaxation content and even entertainment options to the patient. October is Health Literacy Month!

October is Health Literacy Month! Improving communication within each health care organization by opening up communication with patients and families is the beginning step to achieving better health outcomes, decreasing readmission’s, improving patient satisfaction, enhancing brand and truly helping doctors and nurses to have improved relationships with their patients.

Looking to reach every patient with the right information at the right time, in the best format for that patient, at the correct learning level is not an easy thing to do, but using technology can work to improve health literacy significantly! It is a way to consistently and effectively allow there to be an extension of each care provider as long as the education provided is the right patient education.

Content is king! Using video based education video that is less than 5 minutes in length, uses first person voice, is engaging, accurate, uses the teach back method, is culturally relevant, is very specific to the current diagnosis, condition, procedure/treatment and pre/post operative care, and is able to be delivered to patients while in the hospital, clinic, physicians office and to the patients home are all keys to reaching patients throughout the continuum of care. Technology allows for this happen, it allows for the patient to repeat the education as often as necessary and to share their education with their family, care givers and loved ones.

This is a tall order to fill, but MDM Commercial has the solution and together, can enhance patients and families health literacy.

Community Engagement Can Help Boost Your Hospital’s Bottom Line and Much More, Study Shows

Benefits of Community Engagement
Community engagement can significantly boost your hospital’s revenues, patient satisfaction scores and much more.

Want to boost your hospital or healthcare facility’s quality of care, satisfaction scores and revenue? Pick up the phone and get connected with your community, say researchers with the American Hospital Association. Recent studies show that engaging community players can significantly boost not only your hospital’s image, but many of its operations as well.

A recent study shows that community support and engagement can lends big help in multiple ways, including raising funds for new programs, services and expansion projects, and gaining support for tax measures and hospital-wide changes. But the benefits go beyond fundraising and friend-raising.

Study results showed fewer medication errors, patient satisfaction scores and fewer rehospitalizations, particularly among Medicare patients, in hospitals that deeply engaged community members. And each of those benefits helps to reduce costs and improve a hospital’s image. A better image of course leads to more patients choosing your hospital for treatment of their health issues.

Among the ways that many hospitals engage community members is creating focus groups to help make decisions on issues including staffing, development of new services and outreach projects, and steering committees to implement and direct such initiatives.

How does your hospital connect with and engage community members for the benefit of your patients? Post your thoughts on the MDM Healthcare Facebook Fan Page.

MDM Healthcare Supports Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the One to Grow On Ultra Marathon!

MDM Healthcare is a proud sponsor of the One to Grow on Ultra Marathon, taking place tomorrow, January 28, 2012! The One to Grow On Ultra Marathon is an annual 55-mile run celebrating Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the sick and injured children in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia that the hospital has helped since its inception in 1955.

“Being based in Jacksonville Florida it’s very important for us to be involved with our local healthcare partners. But more importantly on a personal level, Wolfson’s Children’s was there for me and my wife with the birth of our 3 children and two surgeries. All of us at MDM are truly blessed to have such a world class facility in our backyard and we look forward to being involved in this great fundraiser for years to come!” – Steve Austin, President of MDM Healthcare

MDM Gives Back to the Ronald McDonald House

“The Ronald McDonald House has been an important part of my life since my mother Patricia Austin formed the Advisory Board in the late 80’s. When I founded MDM in 1990, this was the first charity that my company became involved in. We began taking meals to the families and later donated TV’s for the new Ronald McDonald House on Children’s Way.  MDM continues to cook dinners at the new facility and a few years ago all of our associates donated money to buy gift cards for the families at Christmas time. The people at Ronald McDonald House fill such a vital need in our community. They truly care for families in need with a warm and loving heart.” – Steve Austin, CEO of MDM Healthcare

This holiday season, MDM will once again be supporting families staying at the Ronald McDonald House by donating gift cards. These gift cards allow the children to pick something out for themselves and the adults to purchase things they need or holiday gifts for the children. For more information about the Ronald McDonald House, click here, and to make a donation to this wonderful cause, please click here. Happy Holidays to you and yours from all of us at MDM!

MDM Sponsors State Championship Winning Baseball Team!

What a season the Julington Creek Blue Thunder All Stars had this summer. After an amazing regular season, the team made it to the state championship and…WON! As one of the Blue Thunder All Stars sponsors, MDM couldn’t be more proud of the whole team and is pleased to have had the opportunity to help them achieve a widely successful season! Congratulations!

“This is Mikey Romano I play centerfield for the Julington Creek Blue Thunder All Stars team that Mr. Steve and MDM sponsored. This summer we were 23-1 and won the State Championship, woo hoo! It was so much fun for me and my team to go to Palm Beach and stay in a real neat hotel that had a waterfall inside of it. We stayed there almost a whole week. It rained every day but we had a great time, and the best part was winning the State Championship. We won the semi finals 6-1 and the Championship 13-0. We were all crying happy tears. My dad picked me up and I squeezed him real tight because he was our coach. Thank you MDM for helping us go on this great trip, Mikey Romano #17

From all of us here at MDM, you are so welcome Mikey and team. Looking forward to many more winning seasons for the Julington Creek Blue Thunder All Stars!
